ABSTRACT

Crude extract of the Meiw azedarach (Meliaceae) leaves was tested at different concentrations against the cotton bolloworms,Eariasinsulana (Boisd.) and Pectinophoragossypiella (Saunders). Obtained results indicated that highest concentrations increased mortality of newly hatched larvae of the two species, prolonged larval and pupal durations and reduced moths emergence too. LC 50 was 0.04623 and 0.53235 for E. insulana and P. gossypiella, respectively. Due to the toxicity and! or antifeeding effect of this extract, such substances could be used as pest control agents in integrated pest control programs but they still require further studies under field conditions.
